This year a major National Motoring Heritage Day (NMHD) event will be organised by the TSOAQ will feature a multi-marque Concours d'Elegance The "Maclean's Bridge at Lakeside", event will include a Concours d'Elegance which will see the finalists complete circuits of Lakeside while the judges make their final decision. This 'Circuit d'Elegance' possibly a World First, will see the ten finalists in the Concours escorted around the historic Lakeside Raceway accompanied by an escort of featured marques. The sight of the ten Concours finalists, doing laps at Lakside will be a photo opportunity that will be difficult to resist. Phil Strong, the President of the TSOAQ, is on record as saying the track circuits will add rigor to the Concours judging. To quote Phil, 'The cars must not only be able to be driven, they've got to demonstrate their class on a race track. There'll be no /trailer-babies/ in the Concours. Maybe this is a /World First/?' Applications for the Concours entry are now open. It is limited to just 40 cars, so if you know a car that should be in the Concours and it's yours, get your application in soon, and if it is someone's else, give them a 'heads up' as soon as you can. The TSOAQ is looking for a wide range of entries in this first year of the Concours. Entries to date are very interesting, with one car that is entered going on to the Pebble Beach Concours later in the year. It is hoped that some of the excellent heritage vehicles known to be in Queensland (or nearby) will feature in the Concours which is being sponsored by Shannons Insurance. It gives them the chance to line up against similarly cared-for vehicles of different ages and different marques. Details of the Festival and the Shannon's Concours, including application forms, can be found at www.macleansbridge.com .
